NASCAR Legend Howard Augstine “Humpy” Wheeler sadly passed away on 20th August, shocking the entire community. Wishes and prayers poured in from all around the world, as notable NASCAR figures also paid their condolences to the deceased Legend. Wheeler died peacefully from natural causes, with loved ones by his side in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dale Earnhardt Jr. mourned the death of the legend as well and shared a heartwarming message.

Humpy Wheeler was considered to be more than just a promoter, as he turned NASCAR races into big entertainment spectacles. Dale Earnhardt Jr. added that Humpy Wheeler helped tons of drivers and other individuals gain opportunities in NASCAR that couldn’t have been possible without the latter. As such, Wheeler truly changed people’s lives and careers positively.

Junior insisted that the 89-year-old was a friend and ardent supporter of the NASCAR industry and left no stone unturned to benefit the sport. The 50-year-old wished for the deceased legend’s soul to rest in peace.

He massively impacted the growth and excitement of the entire sport. Helped tons of drivers and other individuals obtain opportunities that changed lives and careers. Always a friend and supporter to the industry. RIP Humpy.

NASCAR Chairman Jim France pays condolences to Humpy Wheeler

Humpy Wheeler’s contribution to NASCAR and the Charlotte Motor Speedway cannot be paralleled by anyone in the years to come. Wheeler kept the sport as his primary focus and helped boost it as much as possible. While the 86-year-old left his position of managing CMS back in 2008 after a falling out with the other founder, he remained active in the community through his private agency.

As such, even NASCAR Chairman Jim France offered his tribute to Humpy Wheeler and his unmatched work in the sport. France noted that the legend’s name became synonymous with the promotion of innovation in stock-car racing.

The 80-year-old recalled that Humpy transformed the fan experience through his creativity and passion for the sport. The Chairman concluded by noting that the 86-year-old’s efforts expanded NASCAR’s national footprint and converted CMS into a highly lucrative racing venue.

Humpy Wheeler is survived by his wife, Patricia Williams, two daughters, one son, and four grandchildren. Wheeler has left a void in the NASCAR world that surely won’t be filled anytime soon. Still, his spirit will live on as the sport will continue to honor his work and continue celebrating everything that the 86-year-old introduced in the sport.
