Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s podcasters indirectly question Richard Petty’s greatness with “modern era” comment
NASCAR expert has explained why it is hard to assess the true greatness of Richard Petty, owing to the fact that his success came in the early days of the sport.

There has never been a driver in the NASCAR history who has accomplished success to the level of Richard Petty. The seven times Cup champion is the first true Superstar of the sport with 200 wins in the top-tier, a record that would never be broken again. He is often brought into the GOAT discussion alongside Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson, his fellow seven times champions.
But almost overtime, Richard Petty is overlooked for the other two owing to the fact that he raced in an era where the sports was still raw, and he always had the best cars compared to his rivals. Senior NASCAR journalist Jordan Bianchi has yet highlighted this point while discussing Petty’s greatness in the recent episode of the Teardown podcast, hosted by Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Dirty Mo Media.
He pointed out that he would love to see Petty race in the modern era, alongside likes of Kyle Larson to how truly great he was. Bianchi later asserted that his comments was not meant to discredit Petty but are from genuine curiosity to understand the legends greatness.
Jodan Bianchi wants to see Richard Petty in action as he never got to see it live
When Jodan Bianchi got a chance to see the Hall of Famer race in his childhood days, he was already past his prime racing in slow cars not truly contending for wins. Him questioning Petty’s greatness might be a product of this as he had seen Dale Sr. and Jimmie Johnson dominating everyone unlike Petty.
The comments from Bianchi might be something that many of the modern-day fans might resonate. If it was ever possible the NASCAR fans would do everything to see the great trio of Johnson, Earnhardt and Petty race in the modern era.
