Dale Earnhardt Jr. urges Martin Truex Jr. to “let people celebrate” him as he announces retirement

Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Martin Truex Jr. put all rumors about his future to rest at Iowa as he announced that he will retire from full-time racing at the end of the season. The 2024 season will mark the end of the Hall of Fame career of the Toyota driver and the fans will be missing the presence of 2014 champion.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. who is a former teammate and close friend of Martin Truex Jr. vis his podcast discussed the retirement. He recalled their time together, how the first met and how the veteran became the star driver he is after humble beginning. Junior also gave some advice to the JGR driver on how to approach the remaining 19 races of 2024.
He told the JGR star that he should let the fans celebrate the final chapter of his career instead of staying out of the spotlight as Martin Truex Jr. likes to do. Junior reminded the NO:19 Toyota Camry driver that the fans is celebrating him because they are thankful to see him in the sport over the years.
Genuinely, the reaction or that from us and especially probably from Martin is no I’d rather not. Don’t make it about me, I don’t want any of the spotlight. It’s just another race. I just want to do this and finish it out. But my advice would be to let it happen, absorb it, let people celebrate you. It matters to them. Dale Earnhardt Jr. urges Martin Truex Jr. to have more fun on the track
While further talking about the point, Dale Earnhardt Jr. advised Martin Truex Jr. that he should have fun at the track, go for the victory laps, be involved in the honorary events fans holds for him. He pointed out that they will understand the significance of these gesture once the career is over.
I would encourage him to do all of those things. It’s a victory lap. Go for it. Have some fun with it. There’ll be a day when all that’s gone, and much as you may not be in love with all aspects of everything that happens outside of the car, you’re going to find out that you actually liked a lot of it.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The advises from Junior is solid and Martin Truex Jr. should look into it. He should enjoy the last 19 races of his full-time career and not to approach it like he usually does while also placing himself in the fight for the championship.
