Dale Earnhardt Jr. bets on William Byron to win 2025 NASCAR Cup championship

The stage is set for the ultimate championship finale at Phoenix. Kyle Larson barely made the cut and is the only driver with a Cup Series championship in the past. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin, William Byron, and Chase Elliott will battle for their coveted maiden title. Amid Byron’s promising look pace in the final rounds of the playoffs, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. puts his money on the former.

Team Penske is fully out of the championship fight as neither Joey Logano nor Ryan Blaney made it into the Championship-4. This would certainly shake things up for the championship battle, as none of the drivers currently seems to be the clear favorite to win the title. Kyle Larson is already a one-time Cup Series winner, and hence, his experience will certainly come in handy for him.

Meanwhile, William Byron enjoyed a flawless outing in Martinsville after winning the race from pole position and leaving the rivals in the dust. Keeping in mind his current form, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is confident in Byron to keep up with the winning pace and achieve his first title win in the Cup Series this year. Dale Jr. clearly stated that he would pick the #24 driver as the clear winner.

Even Jeff Gordon had recently claimed that William Byron had the race of his career after achieving a dominant win at Martinsville. As such, things are certainly looking positive for the #24 crew as they hope to keep up with the winning momentum.

Byron is going up against one of the better drivers on track this season, and they definitely won’t make life easy for him. Hence, the Phoenix race will be all the more exciting between the championship contenders.

William Byron reveals his ‘mindset’ ahead of the Phoenix finale

After qualifying for the 2025 Championship-4, William Byron will make his third appearance at Phoenix this year. He couldn’t quite put forth a performance worthy of a championship win in his previous outings at Phoenix, as he only finished in P3 last year. Now, with this year looking great and promising for him, he reveals his mindset ahead of the Phoenix race.

William Byron insisted that he would definitely think about all the factors that will contribute to his race win ahead of the Phoenix race. He added that he would do his due diligence and research the things he can do better in the race. Byron hopes to feel confident in his winning chances ahead of the race and feel comfortable in all things. As such, his mindset was to let things play out naturally and let nature do its thing.

I will definitely think about all the factors, and I will think about all the things that I can do better at, and I’ll just dive into it and just do my homework, do my research, and hopefully, hopefully by Sunday, I feel confident in my prep, and I feel comfortable in all those things. And then you let the circumstances play out, and you just let kind of nature do its thing. So, yeah, I think it’s just kind of that’s my mindset.

The 2025 season of the Cup Series has been very interesting so far. The championship finale is set to be all the more exciting, especially because of the drivers in contention. Denny Hamlin has a very strong chance of winning his maiden title after racing in the sport for over two decades.
