Kyle Larson had started the 2025 season as an impressive force, achieving multiple race wins. However, come mid-way through the season, Larson seems to have lost massive running against the rivals on the grid. Ever since the HMS star’s ill-fated attempt at the ‘Double Duty’ this year, he hasn’t recovered from woeful results. Still, the Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. reckons that the 32-year-old is ready to win the championship in NASCAR.

Kyle Larson‘s start to the 2025 season was very strong as he quickly clinched three impressive race wins. The #5 driver seemed to be the title favorite at one point in the year, owing to his dominant performances. However, mid-way through the season, especially following the woeful double-duty attempt of the Indy 500 and Coke 600, Larson has been unable to regain his dominant form.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had commented that Kyle Larson lost his momentum due to the double duty and was unable to regain it. However, now, the NASCAR legend reckons that Larson is capable of much more than his current performances signify. Earnhardt Jr. recalled the Dover Motor Speedway and how the #5 driver was one of the best, if not the best driver, as he ultimately finished in P4 after starting from P25.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. believes that this resurrecting pace from Kyle Larson is a sign that he is regrouping and getting ready to start racing from the basics. Earnhardt Jr. further added that the Indianapolis track might finally be the one where Larson regains all the lost form and achieves a dominant race win. The #5 driver can go on to win the championship if his performance takes a turn for the better in the final stages of the 2025 season.

At Dover he was No. 1. And I feel like that’s a sign to me that they are regrouping and getting back to the basics and Indy might be the race where he goes out there and jams the flag in the logo in the middle of the field and says, ‘Hey, I’m back and I’m ready to win this championship.’

Dale Earnhardt Jr. claims Kyle Larson ‘doesn’t look like himself’

Kyle Larson’s top-five finish for the first time since Michigan this past weekend at Dover signifies that he is finally regaining his lost pace. Larson has been unable to bring home any significant results, let alone a race win, as his disappointing streak in performance might end soon. Even though the #5 driver is giving it his all, Dale Earnhardt Jr. reckons that the 32-year-old isn’t looking like himself amid the woeful outings.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. pointed out that over the Dover weekend, Kyle Larson finally seemed to return to the standard that he sets for himself, following a P4 finish. Earnhardt Jr. acknowledged that Larson had a rough summer, as other factors caused him to lose performance.

Even though the #5 driver gave it his all and tried to achieve the best result possible, the 50-year-old reckoned that the former didn’t look like himself when he failed to perform well.

Kyle Larson this past weekend looked like he was kind of on his way back to the standard that I believe he sets for himself, Been a rough summer and they’ve had some things that have kind of knocked him out of decent results. Then when they do finish a race they just kind of don’t look like themselves.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. noted.

The 2025 season has peaked in competition and excitement as multiple drivers and teams look promising of contending for the championship towards the end. Kyle Larson has already locked his spot in the playoffs and will need to keep his head down and focus on performances in the final few races. Time will tell if the #5 driver emerges as the title favorite by the end of the year, as he hopes to regain his lost form.
