Ex-IndyCar race winner and NASCAR record holder, Danica Patrick is one of the most successful finale racers in motorsports history. She has one of the biggest fanbase of any drivers associated with the stock car racing scone and she has never been shy about using the platform she has to share her ideology as well as opinions.
2024 saw Danica Patrick investing a lot of time into politics and conservative political conversations, eventually leading to her becoming an ardent supporter of Donald Trump in the presidential election he won. But her ventures into politics came at a personal cost. In a recent interview with Kenny Wallace, she revealed that she lost half of her friends as well as maybe half of social media followers because of it.
When you get into politics, you know you’re going to lose half of your friends… Maybe half of my followers too, you never know.
Danica Patrick told Kenny Wallace.
She doesn’t regret her decision because of the loss in followers, as she believe some of them would come back and she has the same feeling about the friends she lost. Patrick feels she can get the happiness she lost on the way, with new people coming to her life.
Definitely, when I post some stuff about politics, you see some dropping due to that. But then you get some back because that’s how it works… I’d say the same thing works with friends. You know, you’ll drop some friends but then you’re gonna pick some up too because you’re going to find more of your people. And it’s going to make you happier anyway.

What inspired Danica Patrick’s political journey?
In another recent conversation, Patrick revealed what motivated her to enter the political space. She pointed out that interviewing Robert F Kennedy Jr. during the Las Vegas GP weekend gave her a new perspective and everything that happened afterwards was just the continuation of that day.

Exactly one year ago today I interviewed Robert F Kennedy Jr. in Las Vegas during the f1 weekend, which was my first ever public conversation about politics. I guess you could say the rest in history based on the first photo I posted. The rest is a time line from that interview until Election Day.
Danica Patrick said.
RFK Jr. deserves a lot of credit for Patrick’s NASACAR journey and the new legacy she is trying to build for herself in the political space. It would be interesting to see how Patrick’s political future is going to playout, with a lot of significant challenges ahead of her.
