The 2021 edition of the Daytona 500 began with a Lap 15 collision, triggering a 16-car accident and chaos followed as low spun of Joey Logano and Keselowski hitting the outside wall and then getting T-boned by Kyle Busch, caused a carnage. McDowell was declared the champion,  for the first time in his NASCAR Cup Series career, as he edged ahead of fellow front runners Chase Elliott and Austin Dillon at the moment of caution following the carnage and fans are expecting a more interesting finish this year with the new cars.

The next stages for the qualification for the rest of the place in the grid will have 2 duels,  the Bluegreen Vacation Duels races on Thursday evening where Cars finish first, third, fifth, seventh, etc. in single-car runs will comprise the field for Duel 1. The cars in even-numbered finishing positions in single-car qualifying will comprise the field for Duel 2 and the results from the duels will set the starting line-up.

The finishers from Duel 1 will line up on the inside row in order of their finish meanwhile, the finishers from Duel 2 will line up on the outside row in the same manner. If more than 40 cars enter the race, the two fastest open cars in single-car qualifying will lock their way into the race regardless of the results of Thursday’s duels. The final two spots of the 40-car field will be determined by the best finishers of the qualifying races.
