Bubba Wallace came into the 2024 season with the hopes producing a better year than the career best run in 2023. But his season so far been massive disappointment as he is currently outside the top-16 ahead of the regular season final while his teammate Tyler Reddick is the championship leader.

While talking about Bubba Wallace’s poor position in the bubble, co-owner Denny Hamlin admitted that drivers have to be consistent from day one to make it into playoffs on points. He claimed that if racers have to make it into last-16 on points they have to P11 or P12 in the points table in the final stages of the regular season.

While you wanna shoot for being top-16 in the points, that’s not good enough. You better plan on — you have to be 11th or 12th or better to feel good about making it in on points if that’s what avenue you’re gonna take and not make it in on a win.

While further discussing the point, Denny Hamlin admitted that it’s su*ks to see his driver being in a tough position in the playoffs bubble. He added that because the points position is based on the whole 26 races, and one has to consistent throughout the year.

And it’s proving to be the case that right now you have to be 12th in the points if you’re gonna get in. It sucks that he’s in that position, but again, this is 26 races of a sample size.
Denny Hamlin added.

Denny Hamlin has clear hopes of Bubba Wallace winning the Southern 500

Though is theoretically possible for Bubba Wallace to make it into the last-16 on points, the best short he has at the moment is to make it into the playoff is to win the Southern 400. But Denny Hamlin isn’t ready to lose hopes as he sees a shot at the win for his driver next-Sunday considering the track’s past.

I’m going to believe that he will…If you look at the results, there’s four or five cars that were running up front that have bad days. It can happen to anyone...If he goes out there and he can get top three in each stage and finish in the top three, I think they put a tremendous amount of pressure on others to go out there and not have a bad day.

The bossman Denny Hamlin hasn’t lost confidence on his driver and is hopeful that he can get something out in the desperate moment. It will be interesting to see if the No:23 team can reward the confidence with a solid day.
