Lack of respect has been one of the biggest topics of discussion in the stock car racing community. The Martinsville Xfinity race on Saturday proved the veterans of the sport is right to complain about the youngsters. It featured 14 cautions, one red flag, with half almost half of the laps of the event being run under yellow.
The Xfinity racers made multiple mistakes, aggressive moves and poor decisions attracting criticism from everyone in the community. Sammy Smith wrecking Tylor Gray in the final corner of the race, in a desperate attempt to win shows everything wrong with the new gen racers attitude. JGR veteran Denny Hamlin had the perfect one words response about how the race played out.
Absolute garbage

It wasn’t the only post he made on X regarding the race, as went onto demand rule changes to make racing better. He pointed out that the historic short track needs to have a “avoidable contact” penalty.
Martinsville is a track that could use a “avoidable contact” penalty.

But a fan reminded the three times Daytona 500 winner about the negatives of having the rule, as there is possibility of misuse of the “NASCAR’s discretion” wording on the rule book. Hamlin responded to the concern and pointed out that no ones want such a situation. He wants these rules to only be applied to clear and obvious situation.
Definitely agree that nobody is voting for that. But theres many people, like anyone with 2 eyes that can make these calls.

Denny Hamlin would have been fired if he was calling the Xfinity race
The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran didn’t stop his social media comments there. He shared how he would have reacted to the whole drama, if he had been with CW calling the race. Hamlin admitted that he would have been fired for calling out the racers, who he thinks acted like idiots on Saturday, in the race.

God I wish I were in the booth. Id get fired but I damn sure would call these idiots out.

Talking about what can be done to put an immediate stop to the over aggressive arcing style of the young racers. He highlighted the need of a penalty to send a message to the whole garage, while replying to the disappointment shared by Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. about the poor race product.
It just takes 1 penalty and it will stop this shit. For the short term that is. Gotta send a message.

The comments from Hamlin feature the same feelings offered by many veterans of the sport on the situation. His demands and suggestions on how the racing issue can be fixed, seems reasonable. It will be interesting to see how NASCAR is going to respond it.
