The NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega was a day of mixed feelings for Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin. He was happy to see his team 23XI Racing securing their first win of the 2024 season with Tyler Reddick. The No:45 team landed the victory by taking advantage of a last lap wreck by leader Michael McDowell.

The race was also special for TRD team as NBA legend and the team’s co-owner Michael Jordan was on the pit box to celebrate the win. It was the ex-Chicago Bull stars’ first live race win experience, as he previously never had the chance to witness his team winning live. Hence he celebrated this one with all the passion.

Denny Hamlin joined them on victory lane and he shared a video of the wholesome moment they had. Jordan embraced his co-owner shouting “Holly f**k yeah”. Hamlin went on to embrace his driver Tyler Reddick as well and also had fun time with the No:45 Camary drivers’ son Beau as well.

It wasn’t just Hamlin that was involved in the wreck, 23XI’s Bubba Wallace was DNFed as well and the cost to fix the car would have to come from the earnings on Sunday by Reddick’s win.

Denny Hamlin reveals how special is the win for him

The 23XI co-owner while discussing the about the win, pointed out that this win is really significant for him. Every 23XI win is like watching your kid win. It always means a little bit more when they do it than when you do it. Certainly, the day was disastrous for us and I’m sitting over there by the tunnel just waiting to head to the airport and the TV is a little bit behind so I’m sitting there [looking around] I can’t figure out who had won until they came back around.
Denny Hamlin said.

With Reddick’s win, one reason for pressure is over Denny Hamlin shoulder now. Now the team can focus on helping Bubba Wallace to end his winless streak and secure a playoff spot. The team has the momentum and pace to achieve these goals with 16 more races left in the regular season.
