NASCAR is currently undergoing a time of massive scrutiny. The 23XI-FRM charter lawsuit has brought many shocking things to light that were never seen before. Now, right after the leaked texts of NASCAR leaders berating Tony Stewart‘s SRX Series, Denny Hamlin‘s chats about the sport’s CEO, Jim France, have come to light.
JGR veteran and 23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin cannot seem to catch a break after his heartbreaking title loss. Hamlin’s team was already suffering from multiple losses in the charter lawsuit. However, the team isn’t ready to give up as the case goes to trial on 1st December. Now, a recent string of texts reveals the 45-year-old’s discontent with NASCAR CEO Jim France‘s thoughts on team owners.
Denny Hamlin claimed that Jim France did not value the current team owners and what they actually brought to the sport. The 45-year-old highlighted how France believed that NASCAR itself was the show and that it did not need other gimmicks to succeed.
On the contrary, the CEO believed in putting the OEMs before the team owners as they were the real heroes of the sport and bringing better value to the pinnacle of stock racing. Further, in the chats, Denny Hamlin talked about how Jim France did not really understand the value and importance of the team owners.
He claimed that every team’s deal with OEMs was different and brought different value to the sport. Hamlin asserted that JGR’s 15 million cost was with the OEM engine support and had no other extra involvement in it. Ultimately, the JGR veteran claimed that Mr. France wanted someone else to pay the team’s bills and not NASCAR directly.
Jim doesn’t really value the current owners of our sport and what we bring. He believes that NASCAR itself is the show. He made a point to say that we have to continue to give OEMs tremendous value because they help support the teams. I honestly don’t think he understands that every teams OEM deal is different. I told him our 15M number is WITH OEM engine support. In the end he just wants someone else to pay our bills, NOT NASCAR.

Denny Hamlin claims people like him are ‘future of ownership’ in NASCAR
NASCAR is currently growing in terms of popularity and demand worldwide. Though there are many internal issues, many races are witnessing record high attendance during race weekends. Moreover, drivers and owners like Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and many others are also helping boost the sport’s popularity. As such, Hamlin revealed Jim France’s opinions on drivers who are also part team owners in the pinnacle of stock racing.

Denny Hamlin revealed that in a conversation with Jim France, the latter talked about the team owners and drivers and their importance to NASCAR. Hamlin claimed that these comments proved that the sport wanted people who did not care about the bottom line in the sport.
France wanted people who were happy to be part of a lucrative “club” in NASCAR without caring about the revenue. The 45-year-old shockingly highlighted that the sport did not want any people questioning the split of revenue.
He said to me that what he wants is racers for owners. People like me, Jeff Gordon, Brad Keselowski, Dale Jr are the future of ownership. You guys are smart enough to know that that means. It means that he doesn’t want people that care about the bottom line. He wants people that are just happy to be part of the “club”. Needless to say that is the exact opposite of what is right. They just don’t anyone coming in and questioning this ridiculous split of revenue.

NASCAR is certainly not going through the best of times in its history. Many people argue that the introduction of the charter system was something that started the entire whirlwind of troubles. For now, the sport hopes to clear all the lawsuits as soon as possible and achieve a combined solution on the matter. Denny Hamlin is certainly one of the most influential people in the sport and all matters involving him are bound to be breaking news.
