The 2024 NASCAR season was a year drama for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing team. They won their first title with Tyler Reddick regular season championship win and him making into the season finale was another highlight. At the same time, the team is in a legal battle with NASCAR, after not signing the 2025-2031 charter deal.
The team currently doesn’t have any charters for the 2025 season, and they will be racing as open teams next-season. They will be having three cars next-season, with the latest addition of Riley Herbst, but they still don’t have a third charter in their name. They have a deal to buy a charter from SHR, who ceased operation at the end of this season.
The team’s co-owner Denny Hamlin has talked about the purchase of the third charter ahead of the NASCAR championship award ceremony. He pointed out that nothing has been completed at the moment and but refused to give a full explanation on it. This is because of the legal and secrecy behind the deal.
Denny Hamlin also said nothing is complete as far as the SHR charter to 23XI. He said he knows the options as far as that charter but can't talk about it.

Denny Hamlin gives his verdict on his new crew chief for 2025
The No:11 JGR team of Denny Hamlin will have a new crew chief for the 2025 season. Chris Gabehart was promoted to the role of JGR competition director and Chris Gayle from the No:54 team is set to lead the team for the 2025 season and beyond. Hamlin is looking forward for the new perspective Gayle is going to bring to the team.
The decision seems to be made with the primary objective of making the whole JGR garage better and it will be interesting to see how that will payout. On the other side the change makes the 2025 season much more tense for Hamlin.
