JGR star Denny Hamlin seems to be having a hard time against Ty Dillon. In last weekend’s race at Dover, Dillon became a headache for the former Cup Series champion who was fighting for the victory. Hamlin made his feelings known as he lashed out on the team radio.

The 23XI Racing co-owner is not having the best of luck when it comes to battling Dillon. Previously, the Kaulig Racing driver managed to knock out the NASCAR veteran from the in-season tournament. Ty Dillon did not even try to hide his joy in making it through to the next round by taking a dig at Denny Hamlin and his massive fanbase.

At Dover, Denny Hamlin was fighting at the front of the grid, when he was about to lap Dillon after a green flag pit cycle. However, the Kaulig Racing driver did not make things easy for the 44-year-old. So much so, Hamlin almost got cut off on-track. If the JGR driver wasn’t careful, he could’ve lost the race quite easily.

Hamlin went on a profane rant on the team radio. The 44-year-old went as far as labeling Ty Dillon as an ‘idiot. The JGR driver was simply not happy with the way he was cut off by his rival, perhaps only increasing tensions between the two.

I’m just burning my s**t up with this f***ing idiot.

Denny Hamlin said on team radio.

Denny Hamlin ‘doesn’t care’ about Ty Dillon’s big picture

While the incident was unacceptable for Denny Hamlin, Ty Dillon might’ve had his own reasons. The Kaulig Racing driver was competing in the in-season tournament and thus did not want to lose any time. However, when it comes to any NASCAR driver, they would not really care about their rival’s race, especially when they are trying to clinch victory.

After the race, a calmer Denny Hamlin acknowledged the situation. He admitted that Dillon was simply trying to run his race as per the in-season tournament. While Hamlin understood his rival’s position, he made it clear that he didn’t care about the bigger picture. The JGR driver was relieved to see that things still remained intact for him by the end of the race as he managed to make his way to Victory Lane.

Yeah, I mean, he’s battling for 24th and to win his matchup again,” Hamlin said on TNT. “So, yeah, you know, I get it. That and the Lucky Dog and all that stuff. So, that’s just you know, me not thinking about his big picture. Which I really don’t care. Yeah, it all worked out but certainly it was kind of an inopportune time there, and it cost us the lead and then that spot. But you know, we got it back and no problem.

Denny Hamlin told TNT.

It seems that Denny Hamlin and Ty Dillon are set to have more such moments on-track. Even after the in-season tournament matchup and the following comments in the public, the two still managed to cross paths during the race. For fans, this only adds more drama to exciting on-track action. However, in the world of NASCAR, such incidents could soon create a beef between the two.
