The 2024 NASCAR season witnessed the teams and sanctioning body ging head-to-head over the new charter agreement. The series owner took a strong stance before the playoff and gave the teams a take it or leave it deal, which very team other than 23XI Racing and FRM signed. The two-rebel teams went onto sue NASCAR alleging monopoly and the whole legal drama has produced a lot of noises in the garage.

The lawsuit has gotten a mixed response from the garage. Legendary crew chief and NASCAR SiriusXM radio host Larry McReynolds has been one of the active critics of 23XI over their decision and now he has clashed heads with the teams’ co-owner Denny Hamlin on social media. It all started with McReynolds’ criticism of the new playoff format proposed by the JGR driver.

Hamlin suggested that NASCAR can have a seven-race post-season round to select the championship-4 and the finale will have three races. McReynolds responded to it claiming it won’t change anything and will make it less interesting. The No:11 Toyota driver snapped back, calling the radio show host out for the assertion and pointed out that the Truck series has already seen it happening.

The few mins later, Denny Hamlin made another post on X, in the comment session of his previous post taking shot at the criticism from Larry McReynolds over his teams’ lawsuit. He called him out for spreading misinformation about the legal proceedings.

Oh and if you could stop spreading disinformation to your listeners about our lawsuit I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Denny Hamlin explains why Tyler Reddick lost the championships

23XI Racing had the opportunity to rub salt on NASCAR wounds amidst the legal saga by winning the championship, as their driver Tyler Reddick was in the championship-4. But the regular season champion failed to make his mark and ended the race as the worst finale driver.

While talking about it, Denny Hamlin pointed out that the No:45 team drove really well the whole race and had a good set up. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the speed to match the likes of Ryan Blaney and champion Joey Logano.

We ran 45 (Reddick’s) stuff all week and thought it drove good and he drove good, just didn’t have the speed that it needs to compete with those top couple cars.

Denny Hamlin said.

The 23XI team is currently in a tough spot, as they don’t have a charter confirmed for the 2025 season. Hence it will be interesting to see how the team will approach the lawsuit in the court to get back to the track without any issues, chasing the championships in 2025.
