The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been really tough for Denny Hamlin, as after a flying start that saw him securing three wins, his form dropped, and he barely made it into the R-8. He had the best shot at winning his way into the Championship-4 at Las Vegas, but the bad luck continued the No:11 Toyota team.

Despite having a strong car, Denny Hamlin was able secure just a P8 finish and failed to get himself out of the elimination zone. While talking about the results he admitted that it was not a clean day and admitted that he got the best result he could have considering the circumstances. He blamed the poor finish on losing the track position early in the race.

Just not a clean day. That certainly kind of sums it up. You’ll have that and we’ll just do the best we can to get the best finish. I thought Chris [Gabehart] did a great job trying to get some sort of finish. Once we lost the track position early, he was doing everything he could to try to get it back. …It’s just part of it.

Denny Hamlin told NBC.

The No:11 team seems really struggling to produce good result like they did in the regular season during the post-season. If not for strategy call made by Hamlin’s crew chief Chris Gabehart, the day would have been much worse.

I don’t know where we’re at, but certainly, we’re not running quite as strong as what we were earlier in the year. We’re definitely not as clean execution-wise as we were. Just got to clean it up and go to Homestead and try to win it.

Denny Hamlin said.

The veteran has to clean up his racing and get back to winning form going into the next-weekends race at Homestead Miami. It will be interesting to see if Hamlin can pull it off and make into the final four, for the first time in the Next-Gen era.
