Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin secured his fourth victory of the 2025 season, becoming the winningest racer of the year, at Dover International Speedway on Sunday. It also marked his back-to-back win at the track as well as his 58th career win, all coming with JGR, extending his lead as the all-time winner in the history of the Toyota team.

Denny Hamlin had a tough start to the race owing to an early incident involving Ty Dillon, but was able to survive the chaos to match the speed of his teammate Christopher Bell. He eventually went onto stop challenge from both as well as his other teammate Chase Briscoe, in the final laps after the one-hour rain delay securing the trophy.

Talking about the triumph post-race, he admitted that the win has been super special for him as it came at a track that he always delivered in the earliest chapter of his career, before starting to experience a drop in performance he has now overcome. He made it happen by studying the best of the sports driving here.

Winning here in Dover is super special to me. This is a place I’ve not been very good at the first half of my career. Having a back-to-back here over the last few years is amazing. (On how he improved at Dover) I just studied some of the greats here.

Denny Hamlin said via NBC Sports.

The tow racers that played a significant role in him becoming a better racer at the venue are his ex-teammate Martin Truex Jr. who retired at the end of last season and his fellow Toyota team owner/racer Jimmie Johnson. Racing with and against the former champion helped to find ways extract more performance from his car on the track.

I was very fortunate to have Martin Truex as a teammate. Jimmie Johnson, watching him win 10 times here. You learn from the greats and you change your game to match it, you have success like this.

I’ve got to tell you, he’s after it right now, I think that’s 58 for Denny. That’s great. At this point in his career, he is after it in the sim, working extremely hard. I just really appreciate him and his leadership with all of our other drivers, everybody in our competition meetings, really a big deal.

Joe Gibbs said to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Beyond the driver, he is proud of the whole team, who deliver on the track even under tough circumstances, and he sees it as great blessing. He is more than excited to hang the race winning banner in the JGR shop alongside Hamlin on Monday, as part of their tradition.

Just proud of everybody back home. God’s blessed us with a great group of teammates. I appreciate all of them so much. Going to hand a banner again tomorrow, and that’s a big deal for us.
