The Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway was a day of mixed emotions for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing. The owner witnessed their No:45 Camry driver Tyler Reddick securing the regular season championship beating Kyle Larson, while the No:23 driver Bubba Wallace missing out on the last-16.

Bubba Wallace came into the race in an almost must win situation. He has great start with the pole win, but a balance issue with his cars and getting caught in late race wrecks messed up his whole day. Now team’s co-owner Denny Hamlin has given his verdict on the exit and shared his advice for the driver.

He pointed out that Wallace will easily make it to the last-16 in the 2025 season if they can perform on the same level as they did in the last-12 races of the year the whole regular season. This shows how much the inconstancy at the start hurt his team. He advised the 23XI driver to stay on the track he is at the moment.

If they run next year like they’ve run the last 10-12 races, they’re going to be in the playoffs. No sweat. So, I think my message to them is, ‘Stay on the track that you’re at and sometimes you gotta walk before you run’.

Denny Hamlin had a decent day on Sunday

The JGR veteran finished better than both of his drivers on Sunday, despite having less stakes and with the P7 finish proved that he is on the way back to winning form. While talking about his race, the veteran pointed out if he was bit faster on short runs, there would have been a better result for him.

Just need to be a little bit faster in the short run. We chipped away at it all day and put ourselves in a good spot. Just once we had that restart upfront it looked like we were going to kind of settle in there and run second and then with all the cautions at the end we ended up where we ended up. Overall, a decent day.

Alongside his driver Tyler Reddick, Denny Hamlin is also a strong contender for the championship this season and with the recent performance slump along with the engine penalty he got, the No:11 team has to be on their A-game in the playoffs. It would be interesting to see how Hamlin would perform against Reddick.
