Spire Motorsports star driver Carson Hocevar can’t help himself but get caught in messy situation during races. The most recent example of it was Sunday’s Martinsville playoffs race, where he was involved in three separate cautions. JGR veteran Denny Hamlin isn’t impressed with the actions of the Chevy driver.
On the latest episode of the Actions Detrimental podcast, Denny Hamlin shared his thoughts on some drivers making unnecessary blocks during the race for insignificant track positions. He pointed out that block and chop noses on Lap 100 isn’t wise and pointed out that the drivers that suffers due to the actions won’t forget them.
I don’t know why some people feel it’s so necessary air-block and chop noses on Lap 100 when we got such a long way to go. If you’re good enough, you will get your shot at some point in the day. … Everyone remembers stuff. When you drive them like a (expletive), they definitely remember.
Denny Hamlin said via Happy Hour podcast.
He then took a shot at Carson Hocevar by hinting the youngster was involved in multiple wrecks on Sunday because of his racing such a way. He reminded the drivers that it is okay to let some drivers pass in certain times during the race if they are faster as you will get the opportunity take back that position if the car is good enough.
Why do you think Carson Hocevar was in four wrecks? I’m just saying, it’s OK to let people go and if you’re good enough, you’re going to get your shot. Even though those guys were racing my teammate and racing for their own spot in the final four, to me it didn’t really matter. It is what it is.

Denny Hamlin explains how is earning positive credits from rivals for Phoenix
Earlier in the same conversation Denny Hamlin revealed why he often let the driver behind him pass, if his pace starts fading. He highlighted that he do that, even though he cupid have significantly hurt their race by air-blocking and making their cars suffer.

I let no less than five cars actually pass, like let them pass. I could’ve just held my line and air-blocked them and made them get their stuff hot and it would have been very detrimental to them. Maybe they would have passed me, maybe not.
Denny Hamlin said.
The JGR veteran is expecting the racer who he let go to pay him back by not fighting him to hard when he is in such situation, especially next week at Phoenix for the finale. The likes of Joey Logano and Chase Elliott might decide to give him less of a headache than they could. But he knows a positive response isn’t guaranteed.
But then this weekend, if I’m racing those guys, hopefully they pay that back, right? There was nothing to gain by frustrating Chase Elliott or frustrating Joey Logano. It’s deposits and withdrawals and if I get it back, I get it back. If I don’t, I don’t.

The comments from the three times Daytona 500 seems rational and a strategy that might reward him in his desperate attempt to win his maiden Cup championship. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the season finale.
