The debate and conversation around the unique rivalry between Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin doesn’t seems will end anytime soon. It all started when the Joe Gibbs Racing veteran came forward claiming that they don’t actually have a rivalry going on between them. In response the Hendrick Motorsports driver refuted the claim.

Denny Hamlin the very next week responded to the words from Kyle Larson and asserted that he is ready for the challenge if there is a rivalry. The HMS driver later pointed out that he is ready to get over the drama and race respectfully again. Now Hamlin, via Kenny Wallace‘s podcast, has made another comment on the whole conversation.

He pointed out that they have to agree on a new a new rule of engagement to ensure that things don’t escalate to the worse when they are fighting on the track. The 23XI Racing co-owner asserted that they should race each other hard for wins, but shouldn’t be taking each other out deliberately in those situations.

We know my give a s*** meter is absolutely pegged. If we get into this type of thing and it escalates, it’s not going to be good for anyone. It won’t be good for me, it’s not going to be good for him. I think we just need to come to an agreement on, hey listen, we’re good for racing hard for wins. We were not deliberately trying to take each other out. That’s probably where we should land.

Denny Hamlin asserts that there is no rivalry and it’s just hard racing

As he has tried to established many times, Hamlin doesn’t think there is an outright rivalry between him and Kyle Larson. He pointed out that it is just hard racing between two drivers for the win, which is what short-track racing is all about.

It’s not [a rivalry]. I like Kyle and listen, just watch the race and we all do this to each other all the time. I don’t know why there’s an emphasis, is it because we’re up front all the time? Maybe that’s it, but the 5 and 12 [Ryan Blaney] ran each other up the racetrack. It’s racing, it’s short-track racing — get over it.
Denny Hamlin said.

The debate about the rivalry and the duels between the two will last till one of the two stops being competitive. As long as they have good cars they will be in the fights for victory and sometimes things would go south.
