The three times Daytona 500 champion has lost his biggest supporter ever, his father in a tragic house fire in Stanley, North Carolina and that has shocked the whole racing community.
Fire Departments around Gaston County got an emergency call about a fire at 1100 block of Blacksnake Road. Though the firefighters were able to putout the fire, it had already engulfed almost 45% of the house. The investigation is still over the reason for the fire and initial resports suggest it is due to structural damage and collapse of the home.
Dennis Hamlin and wife MaryLou Hamlin suffered significant injury after fire. Later it was confirmed that the former passed away, while the latter is still at a hospital in Winston-Salem. The house is owned by the Won One Real Estate entity of Denny Hamlin and the 3,724 square-foot house was built in 2015.
The contribution of Denny Hamlin’s parents to his career is emasculate. They saved every penny they ever earned and invested it on their son in his juniors’ years and was the major financial backer of the No:11 Toyota driver till he was signed by Joe Gibbs Racing. Dennis Hamlin’s Chesterfield Trailer and Hitch in Virginia featured on the racer’s car for years before his breakout.
