The Talladega Cup race was nightmare for Legay Motor Club’s Erik Jones. The No:43 Toyota Camry driver was involved in a wreck last Sunday while drafting with his TRD teammates. Jones, Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin were involved in the incident. All there was DNFed from the race due to major damages to their cars.
All three were initially released from the infield care center after checkups, but after some time Erik Jones had to return for further evaluation due to sour feelings. He was later shifted to a local hospital and was only released on Monday. It was latter announced that Jones’ injury will take time to heel, and he would miss the Cup race on Sunday at Dover.
With Corey Heim taking over his seat, Jones gave a honest response to how he is feeling at the moment. He admitted that he still feels pretty sour when he moves around and his movements is pretty limited at the moment. Jones is now getting better every day despite challenges including allergies.
To be honest, right now, I’m feeling pretty good. Any driver wants to hop back in, and I’d love to say I could get back in and do it right now. Is that possible? I don’t know… I get pretty sore at night and when I’m not moving around. My range of motion is just a bit limited right now, but the soreness has faded away; it was pretty bad early in the week and was just kind of resting.Erik Jones said via RACER.
Erik Jones reveals when he might comeback
Jones while talking about a potential comeback, the LMC driver pointed out that though the injury is mild, he would only comeback once it is fully-heeled. He highlighted that despite difficulties, he is feeling better every day.
But other than that, sitting here right now, talking, I feel pretty good. As far as coming back, I think it’s week-to-week. My injury, fortunately, is on the mild side, so we’ll just have to see how it’s healing up (and) how I’m feeling. Again, I’m feeling better and better every day.Erik Jones said.
The No:43 driver has been in a fine form before the crash and it mind end up killing the positive momentum he had so far. Jimmie Johnson and his team should find the right time and path for the racer to make a comeback and start performing again.
