With the Next-Gen cars hitting the track practice sessions has been vital for teams to understand how the cars will perform under different condition but unlike in the past NASCAR decided to curb the practice session to just 15 minutes to each driver. Teams and drivers have requested NASCAR to consider increasing the time so that the teams can have a more productive practice run without hustling.

Now NASCAR spokesperson on Wednesday announced that the teams will have a 35-minutes practice session on Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Pennzoil 400. The teams will be split into two practice groups as will run the practice session on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:05 p.m. ET. This will be followed by the Cup Series qualifying will begin at 2:15 p.m. which will use the same two rounds qualifying format as it was in Fontana.

The additional time was provided due to the schedule flexibility that was available in Vegas but it’s not expected to continue as the 15 sessions will make its return in the next race in phoenix Raceway in the upcoming race.
