Ty Dillon, the full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver, drives the No.77 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Spire Motorsports. He also competes part-time in the Xfinity Series. The 31-year-old is busy preparing for the first-ever Chicago Street race this weekend and is excited to sport a new paint scheme. The MLB team Chicago White Sox is the primary sponsor of Ty Dillon, and his No.77 Chevy will showcase the brand.
The Chicago White Sox branding is visible on Dillon’s car and uniform. Also, his White Sox-themed Chevy was displayed at the Guaranteed Rate field in June. The White Sox held its first NASCAR night by inviting racing and baseball fans for a one-of-a-kind experience. Along with the MLB team, Beggars Pizza, the official pizza of the White Sox, is featured as an additional sponsor on Ty Dillon’s No.77 car.
Spire Motorsports and the White Sox brand are thrilled about their partnership. They believe it is one of the most talked about events in Chicago. Turns out it is but for some other reason. NASCAR fans are unhappy with the White Sox scheme on the car and called it lame. They shared their opinion on social media, and it is safe to say the fans had a mixed reaction.
Here is how the fans reacted to Ty Dillon’s new paint scheme
Some fans called the Chicago White Sox scheme on the No.77 Chevrolet “beautiful” and labeled it “a gorgeous car.” However, another user had the opposite opinion. He said, “The car is injured.” A few fans wanted MLB teams to sponsor more NASCAR cars and commented, “That is awesome.” Despite the mixed reviews for Ty Dillon’s car, the partnership between Chicago White Sox and Spire Motorsports is a unique opportunity for them both.
One user made a bold prediction and stated, “Something tells me, the car will look good before the race and then perform like shit.” However, the car’s performance during the race remains to be seen. According to one fan, “It may run 32nd but it’s gonna look really hot doing it.” Take a look at other reactions below.
Spire Motorsports president Bill Anthony spoke about their partnership with White Sox. He said, “ This partnership gives both of us an opportunity to acknowledge and honor our respective fan bases and celebrate Chicago sports culture together.”
Ty Dillon is 33rd in the NASCAR Cup Series standings after Ally 400. He has 7 top ten finishes in the series and hopes his first win will come soon. However, could it be this weekend in his new livery?
