The 2024 NASCAR season might be the last season together for Denny Hamlin and FedEx. The firm has been the primary sponsor of Hamlin since his debut and has backed the teams in his highs and lows. At the peak of their partnership, the e-Commerce giants were spending over $25 million to have their logo on the No:11 Toyota.
Till 2021 almost all of the races saw No:11 car featuring FedEx paint schemes. But from that season the Firm started reducing its primary race count as part of the broader cost-cutting they have been implementing. This season they are only featuring in around 12 races of Denny Hamlin, and the number is set to reduce next season.
According to the latest report from Sports Business Journal, the number of primary race sponsorship will reduce in the 2025 season or it will end forever. This will mark the end to the most recognizable and the most successful sponsor-driver paring in the history of the premier stock racing.
FedEx is expected to continue reducing its sponsorship presence with Joe Gibbs Racing after this season and could conclude the longtime deal altogether, according to people familiar with the matter, a move that would end one of the more winning driver-sponsor combinations in NASCAR history.Adam Stern reported via SBJ.
Kyle Petty asserts Denny Hamlin is on championship mode
Former NASCAR Cup driver Kyle Petty recently assessed Denny Hamlin’s chances of making it into the championship-4. He pointed out that the veteran driver is in fine form to make it to the next-rounds and asserted that the No:11 Toyota team seems to be hungrier than they have ever been to win the title.
Denny’s in that championship mode, in that championship chase, in that championship mindset – probably more than I’ve seen him ever. We talk about it every year but he’s in an attack mode now. There’s only a few races left, but I think this is a guy that’s dangerous. He has caught his second win. He sees the future, he sees Phoenix, and he can get there.Kyle Petty said.
Hamlin and teams might be looking to end their final year with FedEx on the high, by winning the championship. It will be interesting to see how the how the remaining seven races of the year will playout for the No:11 JGR team.
