The NASCAR garage is one of the most complicated places to build friendship, owing to the emotional baggage everyone carries during the race weeks. For the racers things are pretty rough as well, as they have to work extra to keep their emotions on check over aggressive racing incidents on the track.
There are some NASCAR fans that believes the young drivers on the grid, doesn’t race as hard as they race their rivals because of the friendship they said. Ford driver Harrison Burton has shot down these claims in a recent interview with NASCAR.com and confirmed that they race each other harder and gave example of his fight on track with Todd Gilliland.
No chance. I can promise you, we race each other harder. I can think off the top of my head the amount of times me and Todd Gilliland have ran into each other, me and Noah having our fight or racing really hard.
Harrison Burton said via NASCAR.com.
While further talking about the point, Burton pointed out that he also had some bad moments on the track with another close friend Noah Gragson. He pointed out that when they are on the track, they aren’t friends, but once the race is over, they gets back to being friends.
We’ve all had our moments where we don’t like each other. Like me and Noah fought each other and now are friends, right? And we were friends before that and are friends after that.
Harrison Burton added.
Harrison Burton explains how fraternity between drivers
There is special fraternity these drivers share because of the close racing roots they have in their junior years. He asserted that despite being friends, when the helmet is on, they race each other really hard on the track.

I think it just shows there’s a fraternity there, and we all came up through the same roots together, race each other and then just get along good. We’re all just friends, right? But then when the helmet turns on, we race each other really, really, really hard, and obviously to the point where we’ll fight each other as well.
