Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Hill is a driver who is known for his aggressive racing style. He never backs down from a fight on and off the track. So it was no surprise to see the championship contender getting no break on the track on this Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Charllotte, the BETMGM 300.
He had beef with two drivers on the day, the first one was with Sammy Smith, which same flip the bird on him multiple times while racing. The second one was with the defending Xfinity Series champion Cole Custer. The drama involving the two peaked with just 17 laps left in the second tier NASCAR race.

After some beating and banging, Austin Hill spun Cole Custer as part of retaliation. Custer was furious after the incident with the RCR driver. In his post-race interview, he claimed that, Hill was trying to kill him with the move and the incident ruined his race.
Yeah, I mean, he put me in the fence off four, and then we hit on the front stretch because I was going to pitch him down, and he decided to try and go up inside draft me, and then we hit again. And then I don't know if he blew a tire into one or what happened into one, but then he tried to kill me on the back stretch and just held it full throttle until he wrecked our car and killed it with a rear flip.Cole Custer told Frontstretch.
Austin Hill doesn’t think he did anything wrong
While talking about their incident in their post-race press-conference, Hill pointed out that he has never had an issue with Cole Custer in the fact and is surprised why he was so mad at him. He seems genially baffled about what came over the two to have the beef on the track.
I’ve never had a problem with Cole, so I don’t know if he’s ever had a problem with me. That was definitely weird. I’m sure we’ll talk about it, but yeah, Cole and I have always race really well together, so I’m not sure what he’s so mad about.Austin Hill said.

At the end of the day, the Custer and Hill two drivers who were fighting hard for the win and found themselves in a tough situation on the track. It was an avoidable crash, but at the same time it was understandable considering how tough the whole race had been for the two.
