Next-gen NASCAR
The “Next Gen” car made its debut in NASCAR in the unofficial season beginner, the exhibition race dubbed “Clash at the Coliseum” in Los Angeles, and in less than a week it will hit Daytona International Speedway for the official season opener the historical Daytona 500. The race is already sold out with fans and teams eager to get to know how the new car will play out on a proper track.
NASCAR’s newest version of stock cars is introduced to make the racing more competitive as teams get all the same pieces of supply from varying vendors which are made by strict guidelines. The overhaul means cars will get more durable, more economical, and considerably more modern.
The Next-Gen has a fully symmetrical body which means reduced aerodynamic forces affect cars on the car putting the emphasis back on car setup and driver skill. The composite material used in the body also helps to bring down the cost by increasing the durability of the car and new design which allows more space to display brand deals helps tams to generate more income.
All these updates mean drivers will have more similar opportunities at winning the race which was evident as more owners are willing to back teams or introduce new teams to NASCAR like Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan with 23XI Racing; Justin Marks and Pitbull with Trackhouse Racing…etc.

Toyota Racing Development president David Wilson had recently expressed his opinion on Next Gen NASCAR and how hard it will be to understand the car. David Wilson says that he sees teams still trying to understand how the car, downforce, and drag play out in the track even at the time of 2022 mid-season. He went on to say that he finds that aspect of the new car worrying and making him excited at the same time.
“We could see ourselves still trying to wrap our heads around this by the time we get to midseason. It’s going to take us some time to see the impact of downforce and drag and how those changes from track to track. So, it fills me with angst. It fills me with excitement at the same time,” David Wilson said.
Daytona 500 will February 21 hoping to put up a show for fans who are eager to get first know-how into how their favorite teams and drivers probably perform in 2022.
