Harrison Burton who competes full-time in the Cup Series driving the No.21 Ford Mustang for Wood Brothers Racing seemed pretty infuriated with Sundays’ Toyota Owners 400 finish at P18.
Harrison Burton despite starting his 2022 season with two straight DNFs at Daytona 500 and Auto Club 400 made quite a comeback in the Pennzoil 400 with P16, the best of this season so far, and then went on to secure two top 20s and two top 30s with a P18 during this weeks’ Toyota Owners 400.
With racing the NextGen car at the Richmond Raceway for the first time, he felt that he was going to finish better than 18th but that remained a dream leaving the young lad disappointeHarrison Burton is still optimistic

Harrison Burton was pretty discontent with his P18 during this weeks’ Toyota Owners 400 as he found it pretty difficult to stay behind other drivers and to move forward preceding that.
“It’s frustrating because I feel like we were better than 18th, but track position is really hard to get here now. We struggled with being aero tight behind guys, so it was really hard for me to kind of move forward throughout the run because of that,” said Harrison Burton.
He further added saying that the car was competent and that if he continues in this direction, he might end up in a better spot. He also felt content as he started running with drivers whom he is supposed to drive along and felt like he is getting better every time.
“I felt like we had a pretty decent Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Mustang. If we keep going in this direction, I feel like we’re getting a little better every time. It’s good to start running up with guys that we should be running with and building that direction,” added Harrison Burton.
“I’m not sure exactly what happened,” Harrison Burton on his smoking tire at the race
Burton had a hard time going three-wide and four-wide and when asked about what exactly happened, he only had one thing to say, that being he wasn’t sure what exactly happened but he didn’t have enough room and ended up getting hit and smoking a tire on otherwise what was a pretty hassle-free race.
“I’m not sure exactly what happened. I know the 9, I think we were four-wide or something. There’s just not a lot of room, so got hit and then smoked a tire, but, other than that, a pretty smooth day so we’ll take it,” concluded Harrison Burton.
Having said that Harrison Burton is heading in the right direction, will he have his first win this season?
