‘I will be pissed off about it for a while,’ Bubba Wallace on missing out the Daytona 500 win

Bubba Wallace missed out on a Daytona 500 win for the 2nd time in his career as the 23Xl racer finished p2 behind the champion rookie Austin Cindric in the last laps drag race in overtime. Austin Cindric was able to edge out Bubba Wallace before the caution came out for a crash behind the leaders.
Bubba Wallace started the race at p17 and moved up the grid and in the last lap, he was racing behind eventual winner Austin Cindric and his Penske teammate Ryan Blaney. He was a nose short at the checkered flag though he was able to gain on Ryan Blaney.

Bubba Wallace congratulated Austin Cindric for the win and went on to say that he feels dejected about the loss but added that the hard put in by him and his teammates keep him up, He added that he is proud of what 23Xl and thankful for team’s work.
“Congrats to Austin. What could have been right…talk about some happy stuff here. just dejected but the thing that keeps me up is just the hard work that we put in in our speedway stuff… the hard work from everybody at 23Xl proud of them can’t thank them enough,” Bubba Wallace said.
Bubba Wallace went on to say he knew the finish is empowering and encouraging following his move to such a competitive team. He added that he had to survive at the front as his Toyota teammate crashed out adding that he will be pissed about the loss for the coming days.
“I knew this was a big move last year for me to go out and be competitive and we are showing that so always the first race of the season you getting through everything but when you come out of the gates like that it’s empowering its encouraging thankyou everybody back at the shop,” Bubba Wallace said.
“The Toyota teammates did a good job until they got picked up throughout the race, we just have to survive great Speedweek though come home second I will be pissed off about it for a while I was happy at the first 2nd place, we got a couple of years ago this one suck when you are that close. Happy for the team and partners,” Bubba Wallace added.
Austin Cindric and Bubba Wallace are joined in the top 5 by Ford drivers Chase Briscoe, Ryan Blaney, and Aric Almirola. While Kyle Busch finished at p6 and defending champion finished at 7th Michael.
