The major discussion in the NASCAR community over the last few weeks has been the rivalry between Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin. The duo has a very unique relationship on and off the track, as despite being good friends they have never hesitated to race hard on the track.
Recently they made some bold comments about the rivalry with initially Denny Hamlin coming out claiming they don’t have a rivalry before backtracking it as Kyle Larson refuted the comments. Recently the 2021 Cup champion even claimed that they are ready to move on from the drama. Now defending champion Ryan Blaney’s tier changer has come up with a unique take on the drama.
Skip Flores in the recent episode of Stacking Pennies podcast of Corey Lejoie pointed out that after seeing the battle between the two at Nashville he believes Hamlin is baiting Larson to make a mistake which he can take advantage of. At the end of the day if both drivers have good cars it’s most often the mistake that make the difference in the duels.
This is where the measuring contest comes into play. The 5 tries to push the 11 it looks like to me, push him down into the corner. Well, the 11 takes the bottom…This is the stuff that makes me think that Kyle is getting frustrated with Denny. Because Denny is now baiting him into making some mistakes out there.Skip Flores said via Stacking Pennies podcast.
Kyle Larson demands more respect from Denny Hamlin
Recently Kyle Larson talked about the clash between him and Hamlin again. He admitted that he is ready to move on from all the drama as he doesn’t have any issue with them and asserted that he wants more respectful racing from the JGR veteran.
Now going forward I think I’m ready to move on, I’ve got zero issue at this point. I would like a little bit of respect on the race track and a little bit more room than maybe I’ve been given.Kyle Larson said.
It would be interesting to where the drama between the two would go and who would come out victorious in the upcoming battle. There is only one way the rivalry goes and it would depend on the respect they show while having duels.
