The 2025 NASCAR Cup season so far hasn’t been kind for Joe Gibbs’s grandson Ty Gibbs at JGR. The former Xfinity Series champion, who is in his third season in the top-tier, is current P34 in the championship’s table. While his teammate Chrsitopher Bell is winning three races in the row, he is struggling even secure top-15 runs.

Senior NASCAR Journalist Jeff Gluck discussed this massive drop in performance from Ty Gibbs vis his Dirty Mo Media podcast, The Teardown. He had some harsh words about the No:54 crew’s run, branding his run as crappy and horrible. Gluck highlighted the same happened to Gibbs at Phoenix last Sunday.

Ty Gibbs is on like a historic run of crappiness right now. Just like unbelievably. His results have been just horrible. Absolutely horrible. And today apparently they had a brake rotor that went bad and caused that last caution there.

Jeff Gluck said via The Teardown podcast.

Further talking about the point, Gluck admitted that the champion driver is having a miserable run and asserted that his position is worse than that of Brad Keselowski, who is also having a similar bad luck streak. He added that its pretty crazy how nothing is going right for them.

Just absolutely miserable. He is 34th in points. As bad as things have been for Brad Keselowski, things have been worse for Ty Gibbs. I mean it’s just, he is the third-to-lowest full-time driver right now. Nothing can go right for that team. It’s pretty crazy.

Jeff Gluck added.

The lack of form might be due to the new crew chief-driver combination

The co-host of the podcast, Jordan Bianchi shared his feelings about the poor performance of the driver. He highlighted that the poor start might be the result of the new crew chief-driver lineup at JGR. They have to figure out what is missing for the team and how to get back to finishing upfront where he should.

You’re just going through this stretch right now and you’re going to have these moments where things go wrong and you’re like, ‘What can we do to get out of this?’ He needs to figure this out, though. You need to start stringing together good finishes, because this isn’t just like ‘Oh, new crew chief/driver combination. We’re going through the motions trying to figure this all out.

Jordan Bianchi said.

The comment from the duo shows the streak Ty Gibbs is going through is disappointing and they have to produce some magic to make a strong comeback. It would be interesting to see how long it will take the star driver to make a comeback.
