The win in Atlanta last week has been a confidence booster more than anything for Hendricks Motorsports driver William Byron as he become the 3ed separate race winner from the team this season. William Byron has a lot of weight to carry in his shoulder as he drives the No:24 car once driven by the legend Jeff Gordon.
The emergence of Alex Bowman as a formidable rival within the team was also concerning for him as his other two teammates Chase Elliot and Kyle Larson have already won the championship in the last two years. Now as the 2022 season started its sailing he has another concern to think of that is his contract which will end this year.
Rick Hendrick doesn’t usually delay contract extensions for his drivers but the Byron is yet to sign another extension following a two-year extension that was signed in 2020. Now following his Atlanta heroics, Byron has come forth suggesting he soon may sign another contract with the team.

“We talk probably now more than ever” William Byron on his relationship with team owner Rick Hendrick
William Byron said that Rick Hendrick was pumped up about him being the team’s 3ed different race winner of the still-young season. He went on to add that he and the boss man has been communicating a lot contrary to the pat which he finds something nice to have and added that he also communicates a lot with former HMS No:24 driver and 4 times cup series champion Jeff Gordon.
“He was pretty pumped after Sunday….We talk probably now more than ever. When I was younger, he just wanted me to have the freedom to learn. He told me that when I first got in the Cup Series, it was going to be a lot of learning,” William Byron said.
“And I feel we bond a lot more. Especially with Jeff. I feel like I can go to Jeff and ask him a lot of things about the car and racing in general. It’s nice to have more communication, more than when I started,” William Byron added.
William Byron is cautious and pumped up about the COTA race as he said that “Practice is going to be hectic at COTA. Our goal is to just get some clean laps and get an idea of what we need to qualify. Then I hope we see another great race,”. The Atlanta race winners’ main rival will be his teammate Kyle Larson who have won 3 road courses last year alongside his other teammate Chase Elliot who has won twice.
