Ronald Reagan was one of the most celebrated presidents in the history of America. A movie detailing the president’s life is set to break the covers soon, and the film producers chose NASCAR as the platform to advertise the upcoming movie’s release with a special paint job for the JGR Toyota of Ty Gibbs.
Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the US and was a great motorsport fan. He was present at the 1984 Daytona race when Richard Petty won his 200th and final race of his elusive career, driving the No.43 Pontiac. Witnessing the history of the former president with NASCAR, the film’s promoters looked at the Cup Series and decided to sponsor Ty Gibbs for the race in Daytona.
The REAGAN movie is scheduled to hit the theatres in America on August 30. Subsequently, to promote the movie’s screening the No.54 Toyota would be endorsing the movie’s name and the date of release wide across its bonnet and other parts of the car.
Ty Gibbs is optimistic for the race in Daytona
On the other hand, Daytona would witness a dog fight in the mid-field as the regular season would end soon. This has piled up the pressure on drivers who have not won a single race yet, which includes the 21-year-old who has won four stages but has never been the lead driver when it counted the most.
Despite the unfavoring statistic, the No.54 driver was optimistic for the race in Daytona. Moreover, he would be endorsing the REAGAN movie and envisions taking the car to victory lane in a similar fashion to when the former president was present at the circuit four decades ago.
It’s great to have REAGAN on our car for Daytona. Hopefully we can put the car in victory lane much like when President Reagan was at Daytona 40 years ago.Ty Gibbs said as quoted by MotorsportNews
On the contrary, Gibbs is the second-highest driver in the standings with no wins so far after Martin Truex Jr. Thus, despite not having a playoff berth accredited to his name, his place in the playoffs is almost certain, which could aid JGR in taking all its four drivers into the round of 16 and recreating its effort from 2016.
