Hendricks Motorsports is all set and in talks with IMSA and NASCAR with plans on making its first appearance in the “Garage 56” in 24 Hours of Le Mans sometime next year. They are now working on their cars and are on the lookout for drivers.
Jimmie Johnson the now-retired Cup Series driver is an avid enthusiast of motorsports who is really keen on jumping between different formats of the race. He is currently racing in the IndyCar Series and is having a hard time getting around but stole P6 during his last race on the Texas Motor Speedway. He has won seven season championships and has a staggering 83 Cup Series victories to his name.
Jimmie Johnson gearing up and is keen to take Hendricks Motorsports and IMSA for their entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Jimmie Johnson is in talks to join hands with Hendricks Motorsports once again apart from spending 19 NASCAR seasons with the team and this time it will be for the teams’ entry into “Garage 56” in next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. He is reportedly all set to join and race for the team yet again.
Jimmie Johnson feels that scheduling might be a potential issue but he is certainly interested in racing for Hendricks Motorsports and working with Rick Hendrick. He is also pretty sure that the synergy that existed all those years is still existing and that he would like to take the opportunity.
“I know there’s interest for me to be in the car, I know Mr. Hendrick would love for me to be in the car, so, there’s all this synergy that’s existing there, and honestly, that synergy is what kind of led to this opportunity,” said Jimmie Johnson.
With Jimmie Johnson ready to go, the Le Mans team still needs two drivers and Rick Hendrick is interested in Chase Elliot and Kyle Larson, if not the current racers, he can also go with Jeff Gordon, his team’s VP.
