Jimmie Johnson is one of the most accomplished NASCAR racers of all-time with seven titles and 83 race wins to his name. Over the years he has produced some of the best moments of any drivers in the sport and has gathered a huge fan base from the NASCSAR community. Recently he named the biggest supporter he has had over the years.

Jimmie Johnson explained via the High-Performance podcast that his wife Chandra Janway has always been his biggest supporter. He pointed out that his wife has always support him in chasing his dreams over the years in NASCAR as well as IndyCar. Even though she hates the amount of risk Johnson takes on the track, she completely backs the veteran racer.

It’s funny because racers are racers and I think we look at our risk assessment differently and she’s gotten used to that. Although her risk assessment is far different than mine but I mean, she’s my biggest supporter. She wants me to chase my dreams and ultimately that’s what she allowed me to do.

Jimmie Johnson said via High Performance podcast.

In the same podcast, Jimmie Johnson also revealed emotional reaction from his wife during one of his IndyCar race incidents on his rookie season. At Texas Motor Speedway, seeing the Legacy Motor Club owner driver race over 200mph and spin out, Chandra lost it and ran away from the grandstands after struggling to see it.

Jimmie Johnson explains his fitness journey

One of the main factors that helped Jimmie Johnson to stand out from his peers has been his fitness. He recently recalled picking up some bad habit while he was on the top and is tanked fitness for a long-time. But he made changes to his life in his early 30s and started getting serious again to make sure he remains at the top.

The fitness just tanked. So, I would say up until 17, 18, I was fit and an athlete and then had this hiatus for a long period of time. I would say probably ’08, ’09, somewhere around there is when I started to get serious again (in his early-30s), and it filled some piece inside of me from my day of feeling accomplished…

The comment from Johnson shows how much the fitness factor helped him over the years to have a long and successful career. This is the main factor behind the Hall of Famer still racing in the Cup series with LMC and it would be interesting to see how long they can keep racing in the sport.
