NASCAR Hall of Famer Jimmie Johnson has shared how he used the haters of Jeff Gordon helped him to thrive in the sport.

Seven times NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson owes, Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon a lot for his success in the premier stock car racing. The later signed him for HMS, even though he wasn’t the best performing racer in the second tier of the sport and the Chevy team reaped the rewards within handful of years with his dominant run.
Recently Jimmie Johnson spoke about his HMS days in the High-Performance podcast and how Jeff Gordon helped him thrive. Along with inheriting the fans of Gordon, Johnson also inherited the haters of the four-time champion when he signed with HMS. The often got under the skin of the current Legacy MC owner driver and he took these negative reactions personally.
But he used this to his advantage, instead of letting it hinder his prowess he used it as motivation. He did confess that the negativity frustrated him and kept him awake in the night.

While further talking about the point, Jimmie Johnson pointed out that he was surprised in himself about how he succeed under the pressure. He admitted that he didn’t know he was capable of facing such challenges and pressure.
