Seven times Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson marked his NASCAR return in 2023, following his two-year stint in the IndyCar series. He joined Legacy Motor Club as an owner driver and has been leading the team through some massive changes, including joining the Toyota garage cutting ties with Chevy.
The team is currently slowly building themselves to becoming a top brand and a championship contender. During his broadcaster roles for the IMSA 24 Hour of Daytona, Jimmie Johnson revealed future plans about the team. When asked about LMC potentially coming into IMSA, like Trackhouse Racing that fielded a car in the series.
He asserted that there are definite possibilities that LMC will one day follow the path of Justin Marks and Trackhouse. Johnson also admitted that he respects the vision and execution, as he has built Trackhouse to a competitive side in all racing series they are part of. He sees that as an inspiring model for the team.
