NASCAR veteran Aric Almirola marked his retirement to Joe Gibbs Racing, with who he got big racing break, in the 2024 season. His move came after announcing exit from Stewart Haas Racing and retirement from full-time racing. He joined the teams Xfinity Series line-up as a part-time driver and as a mentor for the young Toyota drivers.

Recently there has been multiple rumors on social media about Joe Gibbs allegedly letting the driver go or him retiring. The primary reason for this assumption was the fact that Aric Almirola has been missing from the JGR garage since the Darlington Xfinity race after making five starts this year that included a win. But now JGR has broken silence on the rumours.

A Joe Gibbs Racing representative told TobyChristie.com that the veteran has in fact is still contracted with the team and there hasn’t been any changes made the plans for him. He will continue to make his part-time appearance in the second tier series, hoping to amass more wins before his career comes to an end.

TobyChristie.com confirmed with a team representative on Friday that Almirola is in fact still employed by the team and that there has been no change in his status within the organization.

The team representative said Almirola is slated to compete for the organization in the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 20.

With his return after a long break, Aric Almirola will be hoping to make a fine comeback by winning the race. With the fast cars JGR has been fielding this season, it would be up to the driver to use it to his advantage and score the victories.
