The start of the new NASCAR season 2022 is just round the corner with almost every team announcing their teams with some exceptions, one of them being Toyota Joe Gibbs Racing, which is yet to announce their full team.

Toyota Joe Gibbs racing is one of the veterans when it comes to the garage of NASCAR.  They had a pretty successful campaign last season as the XFinity Series team combined for five wins, with Daniel Hermic doing the double in Phoenix which led to him winning his first race and the championship simultaneously.

The big reveal is that Trevor Bayne who is no stranger to this format is set to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity Series team in 2022 as Joe Gibbs racing confirmed. This came as a surprise for everyone when the team confirmed that Trevor Bayne will compete for them for a total of seven races.

Trevor Bayne surprises everyone with a return back to NASCAR

Trevor Bayne

Trevor Bayne issued a statement which read as, “I honestly didn’t know if I’d get a shot to drive for a great team like Joe Gibbs Racing again, and Devotion Nutrition, American-made, family-owned business came along and said we want to put you back in a race car,” Bayne said on NASCAR Race Hub, where he also serves as a co-host. “I’m pumped. I can’t believe I’m going back to race again. Got seven races and we’re going to go make it count,” as reported by sportscasting.

Trevor does have the ability to produce magic at the big as he has shown to us in the past with certain unforgettable performances. The most memorable one came in his second ever cup start in 2011 where he drove with Wood Brothers racing and recorded an astonishing victory and shocked NASCAR as a whole.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to produce the same level of performance in the future and slowly faded into oblivion. His return to the Xfinity series team will be his first for NASCAR since the trucks. This return has had the whole NASCAR community buzzing since everyone wants to see if he’ll be find his stride and recapture that magic from February 2011.
