In a special announcement made, Joe Gibbs Racing has confirmed that Chase Briscoe will replace Martin Truex Jr. in the No:19 Toyota Camry from the start of the 2024 season. The veteran racer, who won the championship in 2017 with FRM, will mark an end to a career that is worthy of a first ballot Hall of Fame induction at Phoenix.

The major reason behind the retirement decision from Martin Truex Jr. was to slow his life down and enjoy it more. But that doesn’t mean he is fully moving away from racing or NASCAR as he would be involved in the sport in limited roles. During the Briscoe announcement, JGR boss Joe Gibbs revealed that the veteran would be an ambassador for JGR.

Martin will continue to be an ambassador for us for the years going forward. We’re still talking about things that he might do for us and so that’s gonna be exciting if we can get him off a boat or out of a deer blind some place, we’ll have a chance.
Joe Gibbs said during new No:19 driver announcement.

While further talking about the point, Truex Jr. highlighted that if they get the veteran away from his fishing trips, they would try something more than just a role outside the track. He reckons he would be able to do that.

I’m still amazed, I still told him, ‘Do you really think you can fish every day?’ So, this will be interesting, I think we’ll be able to get him back for a few things.
Joe Gibbs added.

Denny Hamlin asserts Martin Truex Jr. won’t make NASCAR return after retirement

Some fans expect Martin Truex Jr. to make a NASCAR return after taking a break. But his teammate Denny Hamlin has asserted that this will not happen as the veteran has other goals om his life he wants to achieve.

I don't think you'll talk (him into it). I don't think you back that train up with Martin for sure. But, you know, I think it's great that he still has goals and things that he wants to achieve.
Denny Hamlin said.

It is safe to assume that Martin Truex Jr. will only be make limited NASCAR appearances after retirement as Hamlin suggested. But as someone who is really passionate about racing, he will most often be around the sport to support as fan and more from the 2025 season.
