On Wednesday, Kaulig Racing dropped a bombshell after announcing the release of Josh Williams from the team. Williams drove the No. 11 Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series. The 31-year-old was removed with immediate effect. Now, the Xfinity veteran has finally spoken up on his exit.

Josh Williams joined Kaulig Racing in 2024 to compete full-time in the Xfinity Series. The 31-year-old managed to achieve six top 10 finishes during this time, with no real breakout performances. Albeit, there has been no official reason for Williams’ sacking from the team.

Williams released a brief statement on X, addressing his exit. The 31-year-old claimed that the decision was taken unilaterally by Kaulig Racing. Josh Williams confessed that it was difficult for him and his close ones to hear this news, with his fans and partners also bearing the brunt. The Chevrolet driver was grateful for the constant support he has enjoyed throughout his career.

As most of you have seen, Kaulig Racing has made the decision to release me for the remainder of the season. This has been a difficult day for my family, friends, long-time partners and fans, whom I can’t thank enough for standing by my side through all of this.

Josh Williams said in a statement.

The Xfinity veteran made it clear that he was not going anywhere. Josh Williams was confident that whenever the future holds for him in NASCAR would be brightest than his stint at Kaulig. Though, he wished his crew well for their future endeavors. Williams included two pictures with the statement, one where he is giving an autograph to a young fan. While the second picture shows him holding a plate with a handprint of a 16-year-old with a smile on his face.

We will be back soon and looking forward to a much brighter chapter in my racing career. I wish nothing but the best for my guys on the 11 team.

Josh Williams added.

Kaulig Racing names first replacement for Josh Williams

Kaulig Racing has remained tight-lipped over the decision to let Josh Williams go. The Chevrolet team gave a rather short statement on Wednesday, notifying fans that Williams will no longer be driving the No. 11 car. The team did not give any reason for this decision, rather, just conveying that the two sides had parted ways. Though, as it turns out, Kaulig made this decision without Williams’ consultation.

Initially, the Chevrolet outfit revealed that there will be no permanent replacement for Josh Williams for the remainder of the season. Instead, Kaulig Racing will hire multiple drivers to drive the No. 11 car. This could be a way for the team to test out its options for a full-time drive next season.

Carson Hocevar will be the first driver to race the No. 11 Chevrolet. Kaulig Racing announced on its website that the 22-year-old will be getting inside the cockpit at Iowa Speedway for the HyVee Perks 250 this weekend.

Rising star Carson Hocevar will drive the No. 11 NASCAR Xfinity Series entry for Kaulig Racing this Saturday at Iowa Speedway in the HyVee Perks 250.

Kaulig Racing wrote in a statement.

Hocevar is a talented driver who is making waves in the Cup Series due to his aggressive and unapologetic way of racing. However, Kaulig Racing’s plan for the No. 11 remains unclear at the moment. Perhaps, the team simply wants to experiment with a few drivers rather than seeing Josh Williams complete the campaign.
