JR Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR’s very own star, Dale Earnhardt Jr., has made some great strides in the Xfinity Series. The team had already made its Cup Series debut earlier this year at the iconic Daytona 500 and achieved some notable results in its very first entry. Now, Justin Allgaier is set to return to racing at Daytona in the coming season with JRM again.
Justin Allgaier drove the No.40 Chevrolet and had a difficult start to the weekend following a mediocre Qualifying outing. JRM and Allgaier went on to achieve a P9 finish at the 2025 Daytona 500 after nearly avoiding a massive wreck in the final stages of the race. Now, the 39-year-old will return to racing at the 68th running of the highly iconic event with the same team and hopes for even better results this time around.
Justin Allgaier has already won the NASCAR Xfinity Series title back in 2024 (soon to be renamed to NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series). As such, JRM took to social media and revealed the news of their second entry in the Cup Series at the Daytona 500. The team shared a video with Allgaier, highlighting all the team’s achievements and his previous entries at the historic NASCAR circuit.
Further, the video contained an epic montage of Justin Allgaier’s previous outing at the Daytona 500 with JRM and his meteoric rise from P19 to P9. Certainly, Allgaier is one of the better drivers when it comes to racing at the iconic short oval. For now, the team expects a winning performance from the 39-year-old at the upcoming race.

Justin Allgaier claims he doesn’t want to ‘let Dale Earnhardt Jr. down’
Certainly, Justin Allgaier achieved some great results at his previous outing on the track and left Dale Earnhardt Jr. overjoyed with the race results. The NASCAR Hall of Famer was spotted tear-eyed and crying tears of happiness following Allgaier’s P9 finish in the 2025 season’s entry. As such, the 39-year-old had talked about how he did not want to let Dale Jr. down, and he did exactly what he hoped for.

Back then, Justin Allgaier had claimed that he did not want to let Dale Earnhardt Jr., his sister Kelley Earnhardt, and all the fans down with his highly anticipated Cup Series debut with JRM. He even talked about the infamous singer Chris Stapleton, who had banked great hopes on the team’s first-ever debut in the 500-mile race. As such, Allgaier was overjoyed after achieving a top ten finish at the Daytona 500 and not letting all the people down.
I think for me, I just don’t want to let Dale [Earnhardt, Jr.] down, don’t want to let Kelley down, don’t want to let our fans down. Chris Stapleton has been extremely excited about this project with Traveller Whiskey. He’s coming on Sunday, and I didn’t want him to show up and not have a car in the field, right? That would be pretty weird.
Justin Allgaier said, as reported by Toby Christie.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is leading JRM with great success so far. The team recently achieved a historic season with Connor Zilisch and Co. after winning over 17 races out of the 33 total. Hence, this paves a great path for their entry into the Cup Series. JRM can potentially enter as a full-time team if the charter system changes or they achieve a charter by any of the existing teams on the grid.
