The 2025 season marked the Cup debut of 45 years British female racer Katherine Legge. She raced for Live Fast Motorsports in seven selected events and secured the best finish of P17 in the Brickyard 400. She also made multiple starts in the second division as well with Jordan Anderson Racing and secured the best finish of P32 from seven entries.

Katherine Legge sidelined his open wheel and sportscar racing series appearance mostly due to her NASCAR commitments in 2025. Now, after a tough stock car racing spell, she is looking to return to IndyCar and attempt making it into the 2026 Indy 500. She is looking for seats next season, after failing to land one in 2025.

I would love the opportunity to see where I end up. With Sam Schmidt, I had a car that was capable of winning, or at least a top 10, and I know I can run there again.

Katherine Legge said via RACER.

One of the major reasons behind her attempt to make it into the Indy 500 starting lineup is the prestige of the race and how much she wants to race in it. The iconic events such as Daytona 500, Le Mans, Bathurst, the Daytona 24 Hour are other races that is still in her bucket despite she is being in the last phase of her racing career.

There’s no race that evokes the same emotion as Indy.  There are some really cool races. You’ve got Daytona 500, you got Le Mans, Bathurst, the Daytona 24 Hour. You’re always gonna want to do those right?

Katherine Legge added.

Further talking about her 2026 season plans, the star female racer pointed out that she is also looking for opportunities to race in the Cup and IndyCar racer at Phoenix in March, as the weekend will host the doubleheader. It’s an ambitious goal, considering Legge didn’t show any significant performance in her Cup debut season to warrant a seat for the next season.

As long as you’re in with a shot and you feel like you’ve still got it, and I feel like I’ve still got it, I want to race again at Indy. And I’d love to do Phoenix as well and do the Cup weekend with IndyCar and maybe be the only driver who goes there to do both.

Katherine Legge asserted.

In the same conversation earlier, Katherine Legge explained why she is coming back to IndyCar. She pointed out that over the years, she got opportunity to race with strong teams but failed to capitalize on it because the timing was off.

So, I want to go back and have a shot with a car and a team at the right time. All of these teams have been good; I just missed the timing of it. So, I’m looking into it, going again. I don’t feel like I had the results I could have gotten, so we’re looking.

The comments from the veteran racer shows how much passion she has for motorsport and how she is still working hard behind the scene to make her name in racing. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for Legge in the coming years.
