It’s not the first time the young racer, who is seen as a pay driver by majority of the fans in the community, has found himself suspended from NASCAR. In 2022 Daniel Dye was sidelined by the sanctioning body after getting charged with felony battery for punching a classmate in the groin. But he was later allowed to race, once the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.
Daniel Dye issues a public apology after backlash and suspension
The young racer was quick to make a public statement after his statements went viral. He apologized to David Malukas for the comments he himself admitted was careless and admitted that he didn’t wants to represented himself the way he did.

I want to first apologize to David Malukas. I recently went on a live stream with some friends and made some careless comments. I chose my words poorly, and I understand why it upset people. I’m sorry to anyone who was offended. That’s not how I want to represent myself.

The racer pointed out that he should’ve old himself for a higher standard, considering he himself have friends from the LGBTQ+ community. He had the opportunity to backout from the act when his friend reminded him Malukas is racing with a different team, but he continued speaking with the high-pitched mocking tone.
I have some close friends in the LGBTQ+ community who I would never want to feel less of themselves because of what I said, and that’s exactly why I should hold myself to a higher standard. In talking with them, I realize that a true friend would know better than to act the way I did and for that I need to be a better friend. What I said doesn’t reflect how I feel about them or anyone else.
Daniel Dye added.
He apologized more for the comments and asserted that he will use his platform republic in the coming days. The public statement won’t be enough for a racer like Daniel Dye to earn the respect back from the fans as well as the sponsors. He and the Kaulig Racing team has a significant PR crisis at the moment that could reshape the youngsters’ career.
