The lack of female athletes in the motorsports scene around the world has been a major topic of discussion for decades. Gender barriers alongside the physical demands makes it harder for them to succeed in the sport. One other major factor behind the issue is the limited number of girls in the junior divisions, making it almost impossible to scout the best talent from a small pool.

Ex-IndyCar and NASCAR racer Danica Patrick, one of the most successful female racers ever, once highlighted that the physical demands are the major barrier for women racers to succeed in the sport. She claimed that its easier for men to win races in racing and recently ex-NASCAR racer Kenny Wallace has discussed the situation.

Talking with ex-racer Ken Schrader about Hailee Deegan quitting NASCAR to join IndyCar, he pointed out that he feels Patrick is right with the physical demand claim. He highlighted how drivers get physically strained after the race, using “wet noodle” analogy and seems to agree with the claims from Patrick.

Danica Patrick would agree with you. When she pretty much quit racing, she came out with a really controversial [statement] but everybody agreed with her… ‘It’s easier for a man to win in racing because it’s tough. It’s hard.’… There are races that we’ve been young. And we come out of that car like a noodle, a wet noodle.

Big Brother Rusty. I love him with my life, I’m so thankful on this day I would have never made it to NASCAR. And I’ll admit it right now, I’m on his coattails. I’m on my brother Rusty’s coattails. Couldn’t be more happy. I love Rusty and Patty [Rusty Wallace’s wife]. They’ve been with me, supporting me, ever since I wanted to race.

The comments from Kenny Wallace shows he cherishes the support his brother has given him over the years and the live they have built for themselves. He is now giving it back to the racing community with all of his ventures in regional racing and media. It would be interesting to see what more he has left to offer.
