The NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicago saw some dramatic moments after the race involving race winner Alex Bowman and 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace. The Toyota driver was furious with the No:48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy racer over a clash between the two ahead of the rain delay, that ruined a top-10 worthy race for him.

Bubba Wallace took his revenge by door slamming Alex Bowman, while he was celebrating the win in the cool down lap. The move would have dangerous considering the window net of the No:48 Chevy was already down. Though nothing happened to both the drivers, many in the racing community feels the No:23 driver deserves a penalty for the reckless move.

Ex-NASCAR driver and broadcaster Kenny Wallace, while responding to a post on X by some fans, asserted that the TRD driver is in trouble over the incident. He pointed out that NASCAR doesn’t like to see such incidents.

Alex Bowman doesn’t want Bubba Wallace to get penalized

While many are calling for a penalty for Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman isn’t. He understands how much he has messed up the race for the No:23 team and actually felt embarrassed about the incident that ruined the race.

He pointed out that Wallace barely hit him, and he deserved the revenge that came at him. Bowman admitted that he would have been mad to at the moment and revealed that he tried apologizing during the rain delay for the incident.

He barely hit me, everything was fine and it was plenty deserved…I’d be mad, too. I ruined his day. I just messed up. I’ve been embarrassed about it since it happened. I tried to call him during the rain delay and I shot him a text.

NASCAR has started a review process about the incident and it wont a surprise if they announce a penalty for him as it would help them to set a precedent. It would be interesting to see the extent of the verdict from the sanctioning body.
