Mike’s got to get this out of his system. He lost his wife, he’s lonely. It’s America, baby, it’s a dream of his. Let him be, let him be.

Further talking about the point, Kenny Wallace pointed out that his brother isn’t going to be the oldest person in the sports history as Mike Thompson raced at the age of 68. So, his brother is going to have a less difficult time.

If Mike makes the race, he won’t be the oldest person to do that? There’s another gentleman in 2018 that made the race, okay? That was 66 years old. So, the degree of difficulty for brother Mike doing this is much lower than going to Martinsville or going anywhere else.

Kenny Wallace added.

The Daytona 500 entry is not only for Mike Wallace

Mike Wallace, in a YouTube interview with his brother pointed out that he isn’t doing this just for himself, but for his kids as well. He pointed out that they need a positive boost, and he took the opportunity when it was presented to him.

Myself and my kids, we all needed a boost. We need something that would say, ‘Here’s a positive story for us, let’s go make it happen’ and this opportunity presented itself.

The comments from Mike Wallace shows he is looking to for an emotional relief from racing, something he has been doing his whole life. It would be interesting to see how the veteran would perform in the qualifying at Daytona.
