NASCAR is currently battling multiple lawsuits, with one of them being focused on the sport’s current Charter system. 23XI Racing and FRM Racing are at the center of the lawsuit, and the legal battle has been going on for quite a while now. Now, amid new rulings and news on the matter, Kenny Wallace has delivered a brutal take on the status quo and how NASCAR is still having the upper hand.
NASCAR suffered a legal setback after it counterclaimed that 23XI-FRM colluded and worked together to put the sport at a disadvantage. Although both teams lost their charter status and are running are open teams right now, their recent victory could help strengthen their case moving forward.
Now, Kenny Wallace insisted that the pinnacle of stock racing put themselves in more trouble than they anticipated amid the entire legal battle. Kenny Wallace boldly claimed that NASCAR was the ruling team (drawing a parallel between the Roman Empire and the sport).
However, after bringing in the charter team, the sport opened up Pandora’s Box and opened up a whole new world of troubles for themselves. The teams received a little power, and they used it to gain even more power and not let NASCAR be the only deciding authority on all decisions.
Kenny Wallace noted that the rules were not put in place properly, and this caused much bigger problems recently. He hoped that things would turn out for the better and all the issues would be solved promptly. Hence, the sport must look for an out from these troubles and ensure that they maintain a high quality, all while ensuring good control over the teams and their decisions, and not let them run amok.
Now, NASCAR was ruling, and they were ruling hard, And they opened up Pandora’s Box by giving these teams what they asked for. And there’s that old saying, ‘Be careful, you give them an inch, they’ll take a mile.’ They gave them the charter system. The rules were not in place properly at NASCAR for them to open this up and give them a charter. NASCAR had good rules in place, and then they ruined it by opening up a charter system.

Kenny Wallace claims ‘nobody in the industry’ likes NASCAR’s current state
The legal battles against NASCAR are soaring through the roof as even Spire Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club have had their own disputes recently. Although the global appeal for the sport as a whole is increasing, such interpersonal issues could cause a massive problem for them soon.

As such, Kenny Wallace made a bold claim that many people in the industry weren’t liking the mess that the sport was getting into recently. Kenny Wallace reiterated the old saying that after giving an inch to a person, they took the whole mile, comparing it with the teams demanding more power after getting a little of it.
Further, the ex-NASCAR star hoped that things would turn out for the better for the pinnacle of stock racing. But for now, the entire matter was not good, and nobody in the industry liked it, which caused the overall appeal of the sport to dwindle miserably.
When you give somebody an inch, they take a mile. Now, hopefully things will turn out for the better, but right now, this is not good. Because everybody in the industry does not like this.
Kenny Wallace noted.
NASCAR will continue to grow and increase its popularity, but first, it needs to focus on these issues. The sport is confident in its claims and is hoping to win the case when it goes to trial on 1st December. For now, the teams will finish the 2025 season on the best possible note and then look at the matter subjectively.
