Despite the legal battle around the charter agreement, Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s team 23XI Racing has continues to expend their operations. They recently announced the signing of ex-Stewart Haas Racing Xfinity driver Riley Herbst for the 2025 season as their third driver, in the No:33 Toyota Camry.
This came as a shock to many in the racing community, though the signing was long been rumored, as Riley Herbst isn’t the best talent from the second tier of the sport and 23XI is overlooking a potential future Champion in Corey Heim. This has made ex-racer Kenny Wallace to question their decision, with him seeing it as more of a B-to-B deal.

Riley Herbst is bringing in a huge Monster energy sponsorship to the table with their new deal and the sport is now more depended on such deals than ever. Wallace doesn’t have any issues with it and sees it as awesome deal.
Kenny Wallace explains how Riley Herbst might have landed the sponsorship
While further talking about how the Terrible Herbst, the Gas Station chain run by the Herbest family might have helped the racer to land the deal. He pointed out that they might have promised placing only Monster Energy drinks at their 98 gas stations as part of the deal, which could help the energy drink company to boost their sails.
Riley Herbst has landed an opportunity only a few would get in the Cup series and now it’s time for him to prove the doubters wrong. If he failed to perform to the level expected, he might never have a career at the top level the way wish it to be.
