The most heartbreaking moment for the NASCAR community in 2025 happened in December, when Greg Biffle and family was killed a tragic plane crash. Former racers and fans are still mourning the tragedy that claimed the life of seven and has been sharing their memories of the former champion on social media.

One such message came from NASCAR legend Kasey Kahne on Christmas. He asserted that the racer, who was named as one of the 75 best ever to be in the sport, left the world with lasting impression on everyone in his circle.

The impact of [losing] Greg has been immense. From all the heartfelt posts I have read to our waiter tonight at dinner; everyone that knew him has lasting impressions.

Further parsing the ex-Roush Racing driver, Kahane pointed out that Biffle was a consistently good person, someone with a big and kind heart. He lived a life humanitarian life only a few can match. On the track, he made a name for himself with his car control and being a fierce but fair competitor for decades.

Greg was a consistently good person who treated everyone with respect and kindness. He had a big heart and he shared that and lived life the same way. On track, his car control made him one of the best and I always enjoyed the competition.

Kasey Kahne asserted.

The veteran racer remembered the good times and conversation he has had over the years with his late friend and admitted that his heart is feeling heavy about the loss. What makes it more heartbreaking is the fact that the rest of the family is mourning the deaths, when other families are celebrating holidays.

As a friend, we always had good conversations and good times. Rest easy, Greg. My heart is heavy thinking of the families missing their loved ones this holiday from such an unimaginable loss that morning.

They didn’t stop there, as in the obituary shared about Biffle’s daughter Emma, they family also called for action. They pointed out that Emma has been someone that always care for the animals and the family wants the community to make contribution to local animal shelters.

The call for action from the family is a solid step in continuing the legacy of the veteran and the whole NASCAR community should try to play their part in it. It would be interesting to see how the sport as a whole is going to pay their tribute to the veteran in the 2026 season.
